Pop3 Email "Load More Messages" Keeps Starting Over

This is driving me insane. I just got back from a trip and have two accounts with 1000+ messages in them that I have to go through. I keep hitting "Load More Messages" at the bottom of the list to go back and load emails from the past two weeks. And each time I do something different like view a link in chrome or go back to the list or somewhere else, when I return to the email list it is back to only the most recent 25 emails. I have to go through the "Load More Messages" each and every freakin time.

I can't find a setting to load more messages as the default like there is for an exchange account.

Is there anyway to fix this or do I need to go back to my iPad to easily view old messages?

TIA

Sent from my Nexus 7

I am bumping this back to the front page hoping someone else has experienced this. Thanks.

I am seeing this same issue with my Comcast POP3 account. Really irritating as I don't have this issue on either my Infinity Prime tablet or GS3 phone. I'm using maildroid and Gmail as alternatives until I can find a fix.

Email versions:

Infinity Prime - 4.1
GS3 - 4.0
Nexus 7 - 4.1

The email account settings on the Infinity and te Nexus 7 are exactly the same. I played around with manual (as POP3) vs automatic setup but there was no difference in behavior. Gmail works fine for me but as an engineer I just can't let the issue go :)

And both devices are communicating with the same accounts on the same servers on the same ports?

Yes, though I did also try different incoming port with no security on the Nexus 7 to no avail. I have also deleted the account and cleared cache and data without effect - I manually load the messages (limited to 25/load) until I have all (or at least more than 25) of the msgs from the server but when I close and restart the app I am back to 25 loaded. And the reload is from the server, not local cache - I shut off Wi-Fi and could not load anything beyond the most recent 25. So it appears that the local cache is limited to 25 msgs for storage (these are all relatively small msgs, nothing with attachments, etc.).

I have tried both SSL/TLS security type with port 995 (like my Infinity) and no security with port 110 (manual setup), always set with never delete from server.

Interesting - I just manually downloaded 175 msgs and was able to read the older msgs. But I left the email app open and after a couple of minutes it spontaneously removed all but the latest 25 - I didn't even have to exit the app for them to disappear.

My Comcast server keeps mail pretty much indefinitely and I download to my PC so I personally am not in a potential total loss condition (plus, email app works on my phone and Infinity).

Gmail works but the inability to disable conversation mode is an irritant. Maildroid works well but the UI is clunky (e.g., check boxes small and fully left-justified, msgs date separated on a single day basis irrespective of age). K-9 also works but again the UI is clunky.

But this definitely appears to be a Nexus Email app bug.
