Popup Notepad?

Is there a popup notepad or sticky note application available? Preferably one that pops up over ghe current application, not just switching over to it, activated by a keypress shortcut. Alternatively I could settle for one that's accessible via the status bar. Thanks!

What's the difference between "over" and "switching"? All that means at a system level is a transparent vs opaque activity. Either way, it's actually going to switch apps, even if an app draws itself over what was on the screen before it started.

Not all applications have cut and paste options. A popup could enable easier copying of text by keeping some of the underlying application visible in the background.
