My phone recently started having these random wifi disconnects, even with a strong signal. The drops would be for a few seconds at a time; afterwards the connection would be reestablished. I assigned my phone a static IP address and since then I haven't had any drops. Doing this may not fix everyone's wifi woes since these phones have crappy radios to begin with, but it's worth a shot.
