Possible Security Issue with Samsung's voice recorder?

I use my phone to record doctor's visits as I'm a caretaker and it's legal in my state, sometimes I use it for recording for legal reasons, something I noticed that disturbed me a bit, I haven't locked down and encrypted my phone, just using a pattern lock for the screen right now, but if I start samsung's recorder, and put the screen to sleep, when I wake it, I get a little option to turn off the recording cancel the recording or save it and it DOESN'T require me to enter my pattern to unlock the phone it's right there when I wake the screen if the recorder is on.
Is this normal, is there a way to change it so you actually have to unlock the screen to change the recorder? Someone could just swipe my phone wake the screen see I'm recording and delete the recording without even knowing my pattern.

Nevermind, discovered I could fix that by turning off notifications for the app in the notifications menu under lock screen and security. Admins can delete this thread if they wish, or maybe it will help some other newbie like myself out.
