Possible to import the HTC One

I am on sprint and my area doesnt have 4g LTE coverage yet and tbh im fine with 3g since i use wifi anways. But im curious if i could order and HTC One from the UK when it is available and then use it on sprint! OR would it have to be unlocked for that?

No. You need to be on a gsm carrier for an unlocked international phone to work.

Sprint uses CDMA for voice so you would have to find a CDMA version(which I believe a CDMA HTC One is only for the NA market) and have Sprint provision it to use on their network.

What do you mean "provision it" and my contract is up so if i were to theoretically switch to tmobile or att which is GSM then would i be able to buy any run of the mill UK version or would it have to be unlocked?

If u switch to att or a gsm prepaid like straight talk, you can use the One on their network if you buy the unlocked version, but you won't get LTE

That's the question. Best bet is either O2 Germany off eBay or someone in the UK wanting to offload for a profit. They really aren't out in the wild in any numbers yet.

Smartphones, Tablets, HTC, Motorola, BlackBerry - from Clove are saying next week and Handtec - Worldwide Delivery of Smartphones , Tablets , GPS and Consumer Electronics saying the same.

I am an impaitent person who doesnt need LTE either.. but im on sprint so i cant buy a CDMA model from overseas unfortunately. But oh well guess i will be waiting for the US release hopefully it comes sooner then later
