Possibly firmware issue?

I've rooted my phone a couple of times. I'm currently on firmware 5.1.1 lollipop. When I plug in the mhl cable my phone resets constantly. Never getting anywhere. Any ideas?

When you say resets do you mean it shuts off and restarts?
