Hello,
I am brand new to this forum, android devices, and to smart phones in general. After I viewed the Apple keynote, and examined the Iphone 5. I decided that now is the time to delve into the smartphone arena. My first step, was to consider the price of both phone and service. I am currently using AT&T service, and with the new share plans it would cost an additional $120 per month.
I was thoroughly disgusted with the idea of paying for the phone, paying for the increased rate, and doing it over a course of two years for the new contract.
I then began researching to find a way to not enter a contract for service, have a nice smartphone, and do it affordably.
I discovered the google phone, no contract and less than $400. Being obsessive/compulsive. I learned everything I could about this phone, and phones in general. I found that there are many quality phones available to that will fit the bill. This discovery led me to the world of Android, I have always wanted to tweek and change, and improve my "toys". All I can say is, "perfect". The ability to make a phone truly unique customized.
I then learned about mvno's. I know that they limit both quantity and speed of data, but I feel that they satisfy my needs. I purchased an Airvoice sim card and $10 of air time, along with a used HG Phoenix for $53.
I plan to experiment and learn with these first. Then I hope to move on to one of the new Google phones later this year.
I am very happy to find this place, and extremely thankful to everyone here for making the information available and easily accessible.
Thank you.
