Assuming we get the official AT&T GB update, a couple of questions re rooting post-official update:

1. Will the same version of SuperOneClick work for rooting/unrooting post upgrade?

2. Generally, will the same apps requiring rooting/custom kernals that were used pre-upgrade work post-upgrade as well, or will new apps/kernals need to be developed that are specific to the ATT Infuse GB OS?

Thanks.

I will try rooting my newly updated phone via S1C in a few hours and report back.

I too would like to know if re-rooting is possible. Also, I have unlocked my phone, will I need to reunlock it once I upgrade? I don't think I will but usually better to ask and know than do it and find out the hard way.

Superoneclick doesn't work with GB, you'd have to flash a rooted GB kernel through Odin/sgs kernel flasher if you want root.

Yeah, just tried. No dice. Same thing with Gingersnap. Doesn't work. Oh, well. I'm good for the moment, but do want the security of being able to use TBU at some point...

Just revisitng this issue to see if anyone has been able to root a phone that is running the official AT&T GB OS.

If not, I assume if you want GB + rooting, the only current option is one of the custom GB roms such as Zeus?

(I'm still waiting to get "official" GB to mine, but if ATT/Samsung hasn't gotten thier stuff together by this evening, will probalby just do so using the Odin/.md5 method described here and on the ATT forum.)

So far as I know, there is no currently available way to root a phone running official GB update. I have all my feelers out on this issue, too... :D Here, and on XDA. Hopefully it'll happen in the near future.

Let us know how the Odin/.md5 method goes! And if you could provide a link to the method/instructions that you successfully use, that'd be great!
