Out of interest.. If you shoot 1080 x 1080 you wind up with a 1.16 Megapixel image. I like to shoot 1920 x 1080 which gives me a 2.07 Megapixel image. I also like the wider 16x9 aspect ratio. It fits better on my monitor (and on my phone) than the 1x1 square pictures that 1080x1080 provides.

Here are a couple from today.. I live near a little hick town and went in to pick up my mail. The first is a shot of some sun dogs caused by ice crystals in the air.. The second was taken out of my truck's windshield while driving home. It shows blowing snow drifting across the road.

For me it's because of the shutter sound. Biggest turn off for me

I have a crap load of picts and video that I have taken on the gear 2. Really like having the feature and will really want it on my next device as well.
