I figured the photon community would enjoy showing off just how well the battery lasts on the MoPho. I use my phone extensively.

Newbie question here: how are either of you getting such great battery performance? I've read a few articles giving tips, but I don't get anywhere near what your getting for batery life. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. (Also, fintablaze, what is that squarish icon in your notificatipn bar? )

Can rooting help with battery life?

I don't know. I checked some of the ROMS on XDA and they're more speed-oriented and don't deal with battery life. I just want a ROM maintains the same speed, but has an undervolted kernel so the battery life is less when the phone is in sleep mode.

I was rooted when I took that screen shot. I'm not sure if rooting alone helps battery, but when you are rooted there is an app called "battery calibration" which, you guessed it, calibrates the battery for you. How ever, I am now rooted and unlocked with Home Base rom installed and over clocked to 1.1 ghz. So I'm going to see how this effects battery and will post another screenshot of my results. As far as tips go, there is a sticky on this forum that gives tips on how to help with battery, which has helped me.

Oh and the square icon, is an app called Screen Grabber, which allows you to take screen shots if you are rooted.

The biggest thing, IMHO, is that line that shows "phone signal". When it's green you're going to see really good battery life. My battery life is not as good, but I have very little green in my signal strength.

So here's an updated screenshot. This is with home base rom installed yesterday and over clocked to 1.1ghz. Not bad

you do NOT need to be rooted for screen grabber...it works perfectly on my unrooted phone

Wasn't aware. In the market description it says *QUOTE* "if you do not have root access, do not expect this to work".

No way I can get those #'s! I usually notice I'm down in the 60's by noon after about 5 hours off the charger. Today, I was at 39 around lunch so I hooked up to the USB so it would last me until 9 or so.

I do get a lot of email from 2 exchange accounts and I think the unanswered notifications chew up some battery. But my real killer is a very weak cell signal. Usually 0-1 bar.

BTW, my Awake line is solid blue with a few breaks. What does that mean?

I notice that you have your battery % IN the actual icon. Is this due to the rom? I ask in part because I'm running 'Battery Monitor' to display my exact battery % and Juice Defender. Both of these apps are always present in my notification tray. I've heard that notifications can drain the battery. Any thoughts? Also, What does Home Base rom give you that you don't get with stock?
Thanks.

The battery icon does in fact come from home base Rom. Other small improvements would be overclock to 1.1, the ability to use touch wiz launcher 4.0 (which is incredibly smooth btw) absolutely NO sprint bloatware, and no dealing with Moto Blur (or whatever you want to call it). And I've also heard that applications that run in the notifications effect battery as well, but I'm not sure if its entirely true. What I do know is I hated juice defender for the fact that it did absolutely nothing but make my phone slower when I unlocked it and waste time for my WiFi to come back on. I use my phone too much for it to even make a difference.

My usage yesterday. Surfing on 4g on my train ride to work and back.

I imagine that part of the reason for the long battery life is that your use of 4G is limited or nil.
