I just made the jump from my S5 Active to the Edge. Love it!

That being said, I'm not just new to the Edge but to the Note series as well. What are some tips, features and tricks you guys could share?

I also have 1 quick question: Does the Edge screen only work, with the rest of the phone off, when using the official wallet style case? I just watched a video on cnet that showed the Edge screen being woken up (not the main screen) by sliding your finger on it but mine doesn't do that. That video is what made me think of starting this thread.

Hopefully us noobs can learn some good info here.

You don't need Samsung's wallet case to use the Edge display with the main display off. You have to swipe on the Edge display from left to right and back to left again (or from right to left and back to right again). So slide over the Edge display like this -><- (or like this <-->). That will wake the Edge display which fades in. The Edge display will eventually turn off on its own or you can press the power button.

As for other features, there are tons. You can customize what is being displayed on the Edge display, music playback controls pop up with music apps (at least with Samsung's Music app and Google Play Music), you can wake the Edge display and select an app (you just have to unlock your main screen and the app will open), and the pen has all sorts of functionality.

Maybe there is a setting that needs to be turned on because mine doesn't do that...I wonder if my cpro lock screen app is preventing it...

EDIT: yup that was the problem..

Ah, gotcha. I was going to say that it's on by default and I don't even know if it can be disabled. But it looks like your lock screen app was preventing it from turning on, that's probably due to the app not (fully) supporting the Edge display. Few apps do, most don't.

More note than edge, I really like the ocr functions taking picture of text. I like handwriting recognition as well.

One cool thing I've learned is that if are inside an app (which minimizes the edge screen) and u receive a notification, or just what to open an app from the edge, no need to completely back out. By rolling across the edge it brings in back up and came open an app on top what's already there. When done just back out and the previous app is still there. Easy multi-tasking

That is the only way I use it!

^^Good god I need to learn this..

Posted Via Galaxy Note Edge. Yea, the phone is perfect...

OCR is so handy for documents at work or even taking a picture of your Wi-Fi password on your cable box so you won't have to type it in (and write it down).

I created a folder to access action memos and saved notes.

I like drawing in pictures too.

So far I do not notice any hidden feature on my Note Edge. Though a lot of samsung applications and related applications make it special for me
