power button and black screen

galaxy s23 ultra, android 14
in the past when I quick-pressed the power button my phone would go to a dimmed screen. it had a black background but I could see the clock and the notification icons. then something happened - I don't know what - and now when I quick-press the power button the screen goes completely black.


where is the setting to get to back to the previous dimmed screen?

Check to see if always on display is activated? Just search in app drawer for always on display. It should appear as a menu option....
