So I got my G2 yesterday and after I peeled off the plastic protection, the power button came off with it. I'm really disappointed, will be returning this today after work and I might just go with Moto X or HTC One.

I have the Verizon Moto X and it's very nice. BUT Moto tech support is about as bad as it gets. Take a look at the Moto X forum before you jump. Great phone but if you have problems you are pretty much on your own.

I can't see ditching the phone because of one random issue with the phone's construction. If there were other reports of power buttons falling off, I could see it. But when you produce such a mass volume of devices, you will unquestionably get some very weird issues with some.

Should post a pic please

Don't get the Moto X I'm serious. I just traded mine in within the 14 day window to get this. I'm on ATT.

Whoa. When was the last time you heard of anyone opening an iPhone, an HTC One, or S4 and buttons falling off? That would be a major issue for me. Build quality is more important to me than performance. ...but I tend to be anal about it.

Went to Verizon today and got it replaced. Let's see how it holds up.

probably less than the amount of people who opened their iphone 5 box and saw it had nicks on the chamfered edge.

Yeahp and that highlights one of my pet peeves with the iPhone 5...that soda can grade aluminum they chose to reduce weight AND their costs. I don't want a phone that feels like its made from a soda can just so I can say it's light. The iPhone 4 felt like a quality device to me. The S4 and HTC One feel like quality devices. The iPhone 5 feels overly fragile...to me.

Yes, I brought it back to Veriozon store and the manager actually wanted to see it. He couldn't believe it. I just ended up getting a new unit.
