Power button issues?

Hey guys, I just got the HTC ONE M9 after months of debating and having both the LG G4 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.

I honestly love the phone. I think it'd a great change to having used the LG G4 and past Galaxy phones.
I have this issue though and I'm not sure if it's a big issue or if it's common. Sometimes when I press the power button the screen doesn't wake up until I press the power button a second time. Almost as if it didn't recognize the first press and did the second. It's only happened about 2-3 times in the last 2 days I've had it. I don't know if it's that I am not pushing the button hard enough or if this is a common issue? I thought I had seen something about this somewhere else but I can't find that post/article anymore. Should I get the device replaced? I am on T-mobile BTW.

I'd get it replaced - it sounds like either a flakey switch or something stuck between the button and the switch, or the case and the button, making it not work all the time. (I did that with an LG G2 by swapping 2 buttons that looked the same - but the power button stopped working until I swapped them back.) It's always possible that, no matter how clean they keep the factory, some dirt got into the phone, causing a problem.

Are you using it with or without a case? The only time I've had that happen is with a cheapo case from Amazon that didn't seem to fit like it should.

I've had the same issue a few times as well. In my case it wasn't so much an issue with the power button, but I attributed it to a software issue that was causing significant latency between the time that the power button was pressed and the time the display activated. I'm not sure which software applications you're running or what you're display configuration is, but that might be something to consider.

I had the same issue before the update with the delayed response in the screen appearing. It would sometimes take 10 seconds. The update seems to have fixed the issue.

I wasn't using a case until today. Before a case it happened twice and since the case it has happened twice as well. I updated the phone to the current build on day one.
