So last night my internet on wifi got buggy figured a quick power off would help, now this is the second time I ever powered off the evo, held the top button, pressed power off, and it was off, held power button again to turn back on and i get nothing, held it, still nothing

it wont turn on unless i plug it in, and let me explain the battey was only half depleted...

This had happened twice so far, anyone else

Yeah, happens to me sometimes too. It will usually eventually work after 20 tries or so...also, holding the button in for 5-10 seconds also helps alittle.

I don't think you are suppose to press and hold to turn on the device. I just tap the button like the instructions said, and it powers on.

not only that, when you just turn off the device even though it appears to be off its NOT, you have to wait like 20 more seconds or something and then try to turn it on cause you are pressing the button to turn it on and the evo hasn't even turned off completelly yet. Also DO NOT hold the power button, just tap it and it will turn on just give it enough time to originally power off.

I think this is your issue too, I tried powering back up too soon since I didn't realize the phone was still powering down once and got it locked in a weird state where it wouldn't power back up. Had to pull the battery to get it working again.

Yeah, I think when it looks like it's off, it's not quite off yet. Turning on and off seem rather slow.

This has happened to me also, instead of plugging it on the charger I removed my battery. I guess I will wait for a full shutdown before trying to power it back on.
