As much of us are going to Android tomorrow for the EVO, Its time to reflect on the last year with your Pre. Lets be honest, most of us are getting an EVO cause its upgrade time and its the hottest phone out now, not to mention were overdue for some new hardware.

In my eyes, Palm failed us. I was debating on waiting a few more months to see if Palm released something amazing, but after HP's CEO's comments, It makes me wonder if Palm will ever make another phone and their just trying to sell all their Pre inventory. I think Android is going to be around for awhile.

So, as I spend my last day with WebOS before I ship my Pre out tomorrow to its new home, I look back on how its really been a lifeline to me and how multitasking and WebOS has changed the game and how I use my device. I'm definite the EVO will fill that Void just fine.

Im really going to miss the support from all the WebOS internals guys, My Pre wouldn't have been what it is today without them. They changed the game aswell, If only more companies could do what Palm did by letting the homebrew community in. I still believe the Pre was truly the first
"iphone killer"

To the Pre I raise a glass and wish Palm good luck in the hopes that one day I might return to WebOS. But at the same time, Im going back to HTC roots, the first HTC device I ever owned I modded and cooked roms for years ago on WinMo.

Looking forward to EVO tomorrow & Hopefully FroYo soon ! !

Lets hear your thoughts !

Unfortunately i have to wait till Sept. to get rid of my POS Pre. It was alright in the beginning but having too many problems now. 3 more months..... Are we there yet?

Me and my pre havent been talking for a few days.. I make sure not to talk about the Evo around it cause I dont want to hurt its feelings but I think today it googled HTC evo and realized. Hahhaa.. no i really havent been using any of the webos features at all... I havent even visited the app store in a week or two!

I don't think those comments mean they won't make more phones, just that they didn't buy Palm specifically TO make phones. They see how awesome webOS actually is and want to port it onto other things, and not just slap it on a phone. I think you'll see more webOS phones in the future.

Myself? I'll miss webOS a lot. I love the UI, the gesture bar, the card system, everything.

I won't miss the shoddy hardware. Right now my Pre will occasionally think I'm holding the power button and will randomly just pop up the prompt to shut down.

As for how my last day is going, it has only done the above to me once so far today, so maybe it's trying to ehave somewhat. LOL. It senses the impending doom!

Throwing it in the garbage hardly qualifies as shipping. And by home you mean Landfill?

It hasn't been that bad. I do love the multitasking and hope as you do that the EVO will fill that void.

Most of the apps I use regularly on WebOS are either available on Android (e.g. NewsRoom) or available in better forms. Over the past weeks I've trolled through AppBrain - the best Android apps and games on the Android market to and my mouth has been watering to load up Android apps that I've been oogling at. As has been said many a time on these forums, the card based multi-tasking metaphor is a near perfect UI mechanism. Maybe with Palm's UI guru on board with Google, we'll see some of that goodness find its way to android. Given what HTC has done with Sense, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to do what OS X does with Expose and Spaces. One gesture reveals all your home screens (A la Spaces) and another gesture reveals all your open windows/apps maybe per home screen (a la Expose).

you might be able to sell it on ebay for a decent price then take the earnings and just pay the rest for the evo, you can get some of it billed to your phone bill also so you don't have to pay it all at once :D

I will miss my pre...the cards made things so easy to do...but the "too many cards" with nothing open and slugishness made it soooo annoying. The gestures I'll miss..but I've been practicing by actually touching the back button, launcher button and stupid pointless light button to get used to pressing buttons again..lol...those are the things I'll miss the most...but I realized I hate hard keybords....cant wait for the vk...cant wait for the size...cant wait for the apps...cant wait for it all...BB pear to the Centro to the Pre to the Evo.....looking forward to android and reading these forums everyday...byebye palm....it was fun, but I think I'm in for a ride with the Evo...cant wait til tomorow.

I will be glad to have my evo but still like my pre and have had no problems. I will still get to say hello to it everyday as handing down my pre to my husband. He is looking forward to using it and hopefully it will continue to work for him untill he is due and upgrade.

Good call. i'll keep that in mind. Can I really get that much for my pre?

As I pull the plug and take the Pre off of life support system, I look back with tears in my eyes of unfulfilled promised. I think back to Obi-One telling Anakin, "You were the chosen one!" I felt the same way about the Pre. From dropped calls to frozen screens to loose slide, I held on as long as I could to bring it back to life even changed it 3 times. WebOS changed the way I looked at cell phones but it wasn't enough to save itself from its own demise.

As I move on to the EVO, I have hope that Matias Duarte (WebOS creator) can and will create the same magic on Android (that made WebOS beloved by so many).

R.I.P. Palm Pre 6/7/09-6/3/10
Thanks for the memories..I hardly knew you!!

I got $180 for my Pre (2months old refurb) Touchstone & Touchstone Case & Leather Fitted Palm Case for $180 on ebay, it sold last night.... Not bad I think.

Its only $20 short of paying for my EVO.

But, I really am going to miss my touchstone, man I love that thing. Just drop it on and walk away.

Im going to go ahead and predict as of this weekend theres going to be TONS of Pre's on Ebay and craigslist. Meaning their prices are going to go down, thats why I seen a few of us on here sold ours before the high amount of em on ebay.

Pretty much everything in sYnOnYx's OP is what I'd say. Thanks for saving me the typing! ;)

16 hours, 57 minutes to go...

I think i'll just give it to my wife. I'm leaving Pre for Evo and shes leaving Blackberry for the Pre.

Well I consider myself one of the few lucky Pre owner that never had and issue and who's Pre is in like mint condition. My last day is figuring out where to sell, right now ebay is being bombarded the used Pre's and the bids are low. Luckily I decided to lock in a price with Gazelle.com for $122 for just the Pre and charger. I with sell my Pre and touchstone & back, earbuds, pouch and Phantom skinz separately. 24 hrs left till I have my Evo here in Hawaii.

My Pre took a visit to the WebOS Doctor today. Hope it treats the next person as well as it treated me most of the time. lol

Can't say I'm leaving webos yet, but I'm definitely starting to look into alternatives like Evo4G. I'm a first day Webos user (#9 in line) and in terms of the OS, nothing compares. Android looks promising, but right now i can't imagine going without the gestures, cards multitasking, a physical keyboard, and the touchstone. I also feel that the 4G may be a bit large for my taste, but I haven't seen it yet so I'm not sure. I'm definitely sick and tired of the hardware quality of my Pre. I've gone through 4 replacements and still have issues. I've heard good things about HTC phones in terms of quality so that part makes me really interested. For now I'm going to wait a little while and see what Palm announces. If I don't hear anything for a few months, I may very well jump ship. I'll stick around these forums and try to get as much info as possible about android in the meantime. Any chance HTC and other companies will develop something similar to the touchstone any time soon? I can't imagine living without it.
