Pre-installed keyboard woes

I'll admit I was surprised to see TouchPal was the pre-installed keyboard on the 10. I used TouchPal for over two years before the ads finally got to me and I switched to SwiftKey. And I still downloaded SwiftKey to use since I've finally gotten used to it.

But I have a bone to pick with HTC, TouchPal, and whoever made the input decisions on the HTC 10, because the emoji on this phone is downright wrong.

Look at these! Even worse, it's not consistent! We've got these faded old-fashioned emoji for the faces, but the rest are stock Google emoji. Why would you do that? I'm happy most of the emoji are the right ones, but what possessed HTC to include 40-50 special 'System' HTC emoji? Why? WHY?!!

As a fickle keyboard user myself I want to find a way to side with you on this... but I can't say my phone experience is hurt by the emojis. And I say that as a guy who uses too many emojis....
:'(

I am not sure why any company uses "special" emojis. Typically those are not understood by other systems and are just garabage characters.

Keyboard on the 10 leaves a lot to be desired as I used it last night.

After I got my 10 setup the first thing I did was download the Google Keyboard. That touchpal keyboard is no pal of mine lol.

I'd never used the Google Keyboard, but I actually liked it. Sadly, it didn't have simultaneous dual-language like the old M8 Sense input, so i switched to Swiftkey. Its ok, but I dont like it as much as the Google one, not sure why.
