I realise it's all subjective.
I would like put on record my predictions so at the end of the year I can look back and judge how wrong or right I was. I'd request all of you to do the same.
So, I'd say that this year will be dominated by the Note 10, iPhone XI and the Pixel 4.
I think they'll make two variants of the Note. One will be the Note 10 and the other one will be a Folder with a pen. The folding Note will be around $1300. This will be the most innovative phone of the year. The S10 will get eaten up by the success of Note. This will help bring down S10's prices a lot, which will make the S10 the best value for the start of next year.
Apple is in trouble and I guess this is going to be the year when they'll finally do something good. iOS 13 will bring dark mode and other improvements. iPhone XI will bring more cameras and one new piece of tech, maybe portrait mode for video, which is going to lead the way. This year iPhones will be good.
The Pixel 4 will remove the bezels and add a wide angle to the back along with new improvements to the camera. That's all they need to do to be amazing. The Pixel line up will be the phone line up which will give the best value for money. It will keep the current starting price and will offer budget options with the same camera optics as well.
There's that.
OnePlus won't do good this year. The pop-up camera and a slight increase in price will make them face a lot of criticism. They'll be playing really safe this year and going to have a meh year.
Huawei will keep on chugging along with their amazing hardware but won't be winning places in reviewer's pockets because of the software experience. Plus, the US government is trying to keep Huawei away from the Americans for obvious reasons; they're scared of their success. This is going to hurt their presence in the west but will keep on winning in the east.
So, Note 10, iPhone XI and the Pixel 4 are my winners. Most excited for the iPhone personally.
