I moved from a WinMo phone. I had a number of movies that I ripped from my DVDs years ago that were in WMV format. When I ripped them, I used 320x240, 20fps, 186kbps for the video. This resulted in a file size that was about 200 to 400MB. (this was back when I had a 4GB card.)
These work just fine, But it obviously does not do the Fascinate screen justise. Plus I now have the 16GB card.
Most of these DVDs I have also ripped for my PC. Those are AVI format, around 720x400, 29fps, 242kbps. These often end up around 0.7 to 1.7GB in size.
Right now, I am carrying my PC versions around. The issue is, they not only eat up a lot of memroy card space, but the tend to take a lot of processing power.
So, if I re-rip these DVDs, what does everyone suggest for the best balance between saving space and having a quality video? I have burned a lot of hours trying to rip different formats that are usually too large or won't play.
Right now, I'm thinking of redoing them as WMV, only at a higher resolution.
