Anyone have any experience buying phones at T-Mobile on launch day and know if they allow you to buy off contract/pay full retail? Also, do they normally do preorders?

Its been a while since I have done this. Back when they have the Even More and Even More Plus plans, but they should allow you to buy it at full retail. Problem is full retail for T-Mobile likely won't be the same as full retail from the Google play store. They want ppl to sign contracts.

Well the indication right now is that if you buy full price off contract from T-Mobile they're gonna stick you with a full unsubsidized price of about $499. Not worth it when you can buy it from the Play Store for $349 and have it shipped in 2 days.

This is very surprising as I would've thought T-Mobile would have about the same price, $349, or slightly higher, but not this high. Just a blatant ripoff to try and get people onto contracts, but in reality just pushing the savvy users to buy from the Play Store.

Where did you see the price of $499 listed?

That might just be a guess? What I saw was $199 and $20 a month for 20 which is a complete rip off. The only way I can imagine them doing that is to offer a mail in rebate on the $199. Would prob be the best, most profitable way for them to do it.

I don't want to wait two days and pay for shipping. I'd rather walk into a T-Mo store, whack $350 on the counter and leave with a phone. Will I be able to do that?

Nobody knows, but my guess is no. Gonna have to wait till they release more info.

Edit - Ok I found more info on where that $499 price tag came from. According to the below article, its $199 and $15 a month instead of $20 a month for the Nexus. Slightly decent since all their main smartphones are $20 a month. But that still comes out to a fairly large price tag.

The full details are as follows:

$199.99 down payment, and 20 payments of $15
$499.99 is the full retail price
Also, the $199 on Classic is after a $50 MIR.

No, from what i believe but even if they let you do it the price seems incredibly higher than the play store price.

TMonews.com (well respected T-Mobile site) is saying the Value Plan sale price is $199 + $15/mo for 20 months -- $499 off contract.

$499.... they prey on unawarness of people... $149 for extra preinstalled crapware and a Tmo's logo....

There software will be identical to the Play Store Nexus 4. You're only paying for the middle man if that is really the price.
