Prepaid phone question.

This may be a really dumb question but here it goes. I currently have a Moto X (2013) and am trying to hold off on getting a new phone until I see what the new Pixel has to offer but my Moto X is literately starting to fall apart. I figured since I can pick up a new G4 Plus for ~$60 I might just do that to hold me over for a few months. My question is since that's a prepaid phone and I am on one of the new Verizon plans can I just get the phone and put my sim card in and be good to go or will I have to switch to a different plan? I have been off contract for several years.

Thanks in advance.

You would be fine using a prepaid phone with a monthly account with Vzn. But you will want to make sure that the G4 Plus is compatible with Vzn's network before you commit to buying it.

If it is a Verizon prepaid phone then it will have to be activated on a prepaid plan first if you are planning on using it on a postpaid plan

Thank you for the information dpham00. I did find a large thread on the subject on here after posting. I should have searched a little hard first.

Okay, I'm still a little confused on getting a prepaid phone to work on a postpaid line. Am I correct in thinking that if I bought a used prepaid phone that had already been used on a Verizon prepaid line that I would be able to use it right off the bat on my postpaid line? Or would it have to be activated under my account on a prepaid line first still?

If it was already used on an active prepaid line, whether your own or someone else's, you should have no problems using it on your post-paid line after that.

IIRC, the G Play has a micro SIM slot and your Moto X has a nano SIM slot. You may want to get a nano to micro adapter for the G Play.

Awesome, thanks so much for the info. Also, good call on the sim card size. I didn't even think about that.

Shame about my Moto X. The thing still functions fine but the back cover is starting to get brittle and come apart.
