Hey, I'm new to the forum and new to the phone. I just got the Nexus 4G on Sprint and I love it. My only complaint is that when I get a call I hear a robotic woman voice say "You have a call from ___________ press 1 to answer". This is incredibly unnecessary and annoying. Does anyone know how to turn this off?

This is a default setting with Google Voice integration. You can disable this by going into your Google Voice settings page (I did this on my laptop, not sure if there is a way to do it on the phone) and clicking on the "Calls" tab. Once there, turn "Call Screening" off. That oughta fix your issue, I had the same thing when I integrated GV.

To expand Dub-J's post, it may seem annoying, however it can be incredibly useful and cool if you understand how it works.

When you set up your google voice account online (google.com/voice), you are able to have multiple phones with separate phone numbers ring at the same time.

For example, If i have my email, work phone, and home phone as forwarding numbers, anytime my cellphone is called, everyone of those phones will ring at the same time and I can choose which phone to answer the call from. If i am work, and don't want to use my phone's batter talking on the phone, i can just use my work phone. If I am at home and my cellphone is in another room, i can use my house phone.

Using this system, it is possible to turn off your cellphone at work, and receive phone calls during the workday on your business phone. For text messages, you can handle all your text messages through google.com/voice. You could then choose to turn your phone back on at the end of the day.

The "press 1 to answer", is indicate that you want to receive the call on that particular phone, rather than any other phone associated with your google voice number.
