And it is mostly due to battery life... at this point I'm using it mainly to take notes at work or do some very light reading for the simple fact the battery can't take any serious load. I've turned on power saving, turned off or disabled a number of background services, turned off sync, and it still doesn't keep a good charge for more than half the day, unless I don't use it, but even then if I take it off the charger in the morning and leave it for the day, by the time I check it at night, the charge had dropped from 100% to around 60 or so...

Another example would be today; from about 830 to 1130 (2hrs), I used my nexus 7 browsing websites, checking Facebook and chatting with a friend on messenger... battery dropped 15% (from 100 to 85%). When I switched to the note, battery had already dropped to 95% idling, and over the next two hours of doing the same tasks as the N7, the battery dropped a whopping 60%...heck, just writing this post, I've watched the battery drop another 10%.

I can't be the only one really disappointed with battery life... I was hoping the note would replace my N7, but I'm finding I'm having to carry both of them around...one for light note taking and the other for heavy duty/gaming use...pretty sad when you consider I paid half as much for the better performing device...*sigh*

There's no question about it. Unacceptable battery life...other than that it is a great tab, but the battery life may be the deal breaker for me. I am on the fence, but will likely return mine.

It sounds to me that you either have a defective tablet or some app sucking your battery. I have a Note 8 and Nexus 7 as well and find their battery lives on par with each other. The Note 8 gets slightly less, but I'm talking maybe an hour difference total over the course of a full charge. I get through a full day of moderate use without a problem.

Something is draining your battery. I get pretty good life. Im at 1dayvand 10hrs and 4hrs screentime. I have it so wifi turns off when I'm not using it

Yep. I have excellent battery life with mine as well. Brightness in the middle, wifi never turned off and power savings mode whats that? J/k sounds to me like a an app is draining your battery. Post a screenshot of your battery usage so we can figure it out. I absolutely love mine btw.

I am getting 8 to 9 hours on a charge. One of the best things to do is have the wifi radio off when the note 8 is in standby. Go into settings/wifi/
Advanced (menu) select wifi radio on in standby mode- never. This one setting made a huge difference in my battery life.

I'd say make sure when you aren't around a known wifi network be sure your wifi is constantly busy searching for a signal. Because I work 12 hour shifts and even with moderate use throughout I still have 2 days between charges.

Good tip. I found that the Google Play Store setting was the worst drainer of battery by a huge margin. Disable the automatic update setting and you will see a big improvement immediately.
