Hi everyone, im trying to figure this one out but cant find anything anywhere.

Whenever i add a icon from the app drawer to the home screen, it always tries to add it to the last free space of the last home screen, and if that one is taken it creates a new home screen and puts it on the first place.

I always have space before the last cell of the grid, is it any way you can change that so it tries to put it on the current available free space instead of the last? its very anoying having to move the icon and remove the new home screen every time i add one!!

Im using a Samgung A71 rigth now but it happened with all my previous Android phones.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! This is normal behavior if the app shortcut is being added automatically (e.g., if you installed a new app and your homescreen is set to automatically add a shortcut for newly installed apps). I don't think you can change that. But if you're adding the shortcut manually (i.e., dragging and dropping the app shortcut from the App Drawer to the homescreen, you should be able to put it anywhere you want. That doesn't work?

Hi Diddy!

I thougth i couldnt with Samsung UI, if you press an app in the app drawer it opens a dialog which includes "add to home screen" but has the same behaviour you're mentioning, it goes to a new home screen, didnt knew i could just drag it wherever i want it (kind of tricky, was more user friendly with my previous Xiaomi with stock android).

THANKS!!

Hi welcome to AC !
Try a 3rd party launcher like Nova?

In One UI, long-press an app icon in the App Drawer for about a second -- at first, you'll see the option for Add to Home, but after about a second, the homescreen should show up, and you can now drag and drop it. Another way to do it is to long-press an icon in the App Drawer, and then immediately drag it to the top of the screen -- this should bring up the homescreen, and then you can drop the app shortcut where you want.
