I think the higher price comes from the manufacturing of the curved screen. They are only making one million to be sold worldwide, and I think they will sell what they make. Samsung is not forcing anyone to buy a phone, so if the price is too high for some, then they do not have to buy it.The Edge looks innovative and buyers will be asked about it whenever they pull it out to use it.
beautifully stated.
I can't add any more to this. except that the Note 4 is the best large smartphone on the market and although still pricey at 300 on contract vs 200 for S5 for example (when new) it's worth it.
for those of you who don't want to spend more, simply don't spend more! why come here and keep whining that the Edge is pricey, although each post pumps the forum activity by 100%

(meaning it's certainly crickets here)
Yes, the Edge is pricier because:
1) It's not Kyocera, it's a top end Samsung.
2) It's based on the Note 4
3) Does everything Note 4 does but with an added 160 pixels cutting edge curved screen.
4) It's not for everyone and will not be made in the tens of millions like the Note 4.
5) It's the most unique phone of 2014 and possibly most of 2015, hence priced accordingly.
6) Yes it is better than Note 4 for some of us who appreciate the added screen that will allow desktop-like bar of apps always at your disposal.
7) And the added screen can merge with the main screen to provide a full 2560x1600 screen real state.
