just wanted to say, verizon has priced this perfectly at $99, it's not as fast as the moto droid, but a great device at the price for a more casual user.

Any clue as to how much Eris will run for off-contract? I'm not due for an upgrade, but I'd love to jump on the Android bandwagon.

Easy to find out for sure. Go to VZW.com and when u select the Eris (or any phone for that matter) change the drop down box from 2-year to month-to-month. It will update the price on the page and that's the no contract aka full retail price.
