My phone seems to just have restarted and now my PRL is 1. Anyone else's phone restarted just now?

Hmm, I got my second TB yesterday - the PRL is 1 right now but it's been up for almost 20 hours. I'm pretty sure my launch-day TB was running 15008 the entire time I had it.

Mine too, it was 15008 up until the phone restarted and now it's on 1...

phone was on 15008 for 2 weeks. restarted itself about 4 days ago, and since then i've been on PRL 1, too.

pretty common

Do you think this was a fix for those having connection problems in marginal or non 4G areas? If so, It didn't work on mine.

From the XDA Forum:

If you're on PRL 15008, your phone is connected to the old Verizon Nationwide network. While if your phone shows PRL 13xxx, then your phone is connected to the New Hybrid network.

Nothing said about "1".

us "1"'s are in Limbo....

great :)

that thread is also available in these AC Forums here

3 posts of particular importance:

***"Where do you live? Around here (North Carolina), the "Hybrid" PRLs have existed ever since the Alltel merger. These special PRLs preferred the old Alltel network over VZW due to Alltel's superior coverage in the eastern part of the state (Alltel had a very mature cellular network vs. VZW's barely a year old PCS network).

Now, the networks are finally being merged, which will take away the need for a hybrid PRL.

Has VZW bought any carriers in your area recently?

Unless this hybrid PRL is different from the ones I am aware of, it will have no impact for most people, since it was designed to address issues in a handful of specific areas. "

***"Well, the deal with PRLs (up to now at least) was that some folks could benefit with what is called a "Hybrid" PRL. But Hybrid PRLs are usually used in those places where maybe another roaming partner or ex-competitor (Alltel) has legacy towers. So, AFAIK, the "Hybrid" thing is geographically prompted. Not so sure we all need this Hybrid. I'd wait till we learned more about it."

***"Tonight I called tech support from Verizon and was surprised to get in touch with a very knowledgeable rep. The Hybrid push is a known issue, but ONLY for certain customers. These customers are in certain areas and are either former Alltel customers or customers that are accessing former Alltels equipment. I to have the 15008 PRL, however my location, New Jersey, I am not affected by the Alltel issue, and even though she said she would send the update to my phone, she stated that it can cause other issues."

My phone did that about a week ago, it is now set back to 15008 due to a power cycle I had to do. For some odd reason when it restarted itself it also dismounted the sd card, which I didn't realize until I began to try to open some apps and they would force close due to the fact they are installed on the sd card.

Interesting. I get 1 under settings but 15011 is under ##778

The Hybrid Network is actually area specific and doesn't mean a thing to the majority of users.

It is used to address specific problems such as coverage issues in specific areas, and to prevent network overloads in areas where VZW acquired another carrier but has not yet integrated the networks (around here, the hybrid PRL refers the Alltel network).

If your signal drops occasionally, it is unlikely that the PRL is the problem. If there was a major network change in your area, you might need an update, but it is still unlikely it would cause dropped calls or data sessions. If you can't pick up a signal at all where you should be able to, your PRL might be the issue.

All the PRL does is tell the phone what networks to connect to and what the priority is, along with a handful of other parameters. It is important to have a current PRL, but updates to this are not the magic cure to issues that a lot of people think they are.

If it shows something crazy like 1 you might have an issue. However, keep in mind that PRLs can be area specific or different versions may be assigned in some situations.

Mine was 15008 since launch day (3/17).

After reading this post, decided to try a reboot...now its PRL 1.

Hmmmm...anyone have any luck trying to figure out what the diffrence is?

I too have a PRL of 15011.

SW Denver CO area. 4G here although a little shaky when trying to use GPS. I switch to 3G for that.

I'm in Denver and I have 15008. Haven't had any issues with GPS, although I don't use it often 'cuz I have one in my car.
