For as long as I have owned phone on the Verizon system, the PRL has always been five digits. Today when I look at it it changed to 1. I'm wondering if anyone could possibly provide an explanation?

I wouldn't worry about it unless you're having a connection problem. I'm not even sure if they use it anymore with everything moving to 4G and 5G. PRL was mostly for CDMA only devices.

My thoughts exactly.

Wow, I remember having to do *228 back in the day.

Way back when, one had to dial a code (I have forgotten what it was) every time one transitioned into a new service area, in order to register your phone in the new area.

In any case, PRL (preferred roaming list) is a CDMA thing, obsolete on 4G phones. No *228 to update the PRL on 4G phones/

Thank you everyone your sage comments. My research has indicated the same.

That was Standard Operating Procedure! My first wireless plan was $49.95 for... THIRTY MINUTES! Analog. The Denver Mobile Vendor who sold me the phone gave me sound advice about cell phones... 'you either control the phone or it controls you'.
