pro 20 imei number

i am just about to buy a second hand pro 20
the phone has been factory reset and comes up with the message

" this device was reset to continue sign in with a ggogle account that was previously
synced on this device "

iv'e known the guy who is selling the phone and to me he's always been squeeky clean
and he says that he forgot the email that he set up the phone with originally
is there any way i can get the imei number from the phone
i have tried to dial in *#06# but it says it isnt an emergancy number
i just want to be certain that it hasn't been stolen before i take it in my local phone shop to be bypassed

i have been told that i can have the google account bypassed
so theres no way i can get the imei then ??
if not i wont buy the phone

That would be illegal to try and bypass google account.
