Problem adding contacts to Buddy app

This seems like it should be straightforward, but I am unable to populate the Buddy contact list on my Gear S2. Here's what I am doing:

I tap the Buddy app icon on my watch and the screen shows an icon labeled "Add buddy on your phone". I tap on that and the Buddy settings screen appears on my Galaxy S7. I tap the "ADD" label and a "Select contacts" screen appears where I can select up to 11 contacts. I select my contacts then tap the "DONE" label on the screen, which returns me to the previous screen.

At this point, I expect that the Buddy app on my watch will show the selected contacts. But, it doesn't. Selecting the Buddy app icon on the watch simply re-displays the "Add buddy on your phone" icon again. When I look on my phone, none of the contacts I selected previously are selected. In other words, I am back to where I started.

Maybe I am missing something obvious? Any help?

No it appears you are doing everything right... My phone does not even have the "Done" feature you speak of when you finish adding a new buddy. (maybe because I have an LG) As soon as I added a new contact went back into my watch it was there.

Have you tried adding one at a time?

I tried what you suggested, and attempted to add one contact at a time. Unfortunately, it made no difference. I still ended up with the same result: no buddies!

If there are any other ideas out there, I sure would like to hear them.

I don't even get that far. When I open the Buddy app, it says syncing. After but a minute, it shows the Add a buddy screen. I tap it and it says check your phone for about 10 seconds. Nothing happens on my phone and it just goes back to the Add a Buddy screen.

Are these bluetooth or 3g watches? If 3g what provider? What phone are you paired with?

Just curious want to see if there is a common issue with certain watches and phones.

I have the 3g verizon version and I am paired to an LG V10 no buddy issue.
