Everytime I click on install it never completly downloads and once it did it said please try again...........

you are running froyo which has known issues on droid with latest maps. The fix is quite technical, involving pulling /system/bin/packages.xml and removing ALL references to the maps application. You also need to be root and remove the application itself and run a possible command to uninstall the package.

I would do a google search for the written commands.

they was most of it. for me i had to do more steps, never debugged why. but something in the packages.xml was wrong, finally found a thread with what to do.

good luck

I followed these directions, worked perfect first try afterwards:

to all of those running froyo on the droid, found these instructions over at droid-life. You're gonna need a terminal emulator:

1. Open Terminal Emulator and type in the follow commands:

su
mountsys
rm system/app/Maps.apk
cd system/bin
sh pm uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps
unmountsys
reboot

2. After your phone reboots, open the market and download Google Maps.
3. If it fails the first time, just cancel the download and try again.
4. Done!
