Problem problem problems!

Soooo I updated my Droid X to 2.2, then started having the Motorola screen issue.
I went to Verizon, but they couldn't help me. They were just quick to do a factory reset.
And I easily simulated the problem again for them to see.
But they can't get me a replacement either because I bought this phone from a third party user, so no warranty.
I guess I just have to make sure never to turn my phone off. Or else the M screen will appear again.
So I just went home with a sad face. Finally managed to get it on again; all my settings back to default, mind you.
But now I can't even get rid of the slider screen lock! I go to Settings > Location & Security > and scroll down to Security, but there is no check mark to disable the Screen lock.
I am about to click on Set up screen lock. When I go in there, there's 4 options: None, Pattern, Pin, and Password.
Clicking on the None doesn't work; but when I try to create a pattern, pin, or password, it doesn't even work when I press the power button off then on.
The slider lock still shows up, and after I slide it in, I'm able to use my phone. So what gives? What's the function of the pattern, pin, or password options then?

I love my new Droid X, but it's giving me so many problems :[

And I've been trying to root my phone too, with no results.
Looks like my computer won't install the driver from Motorola correctly or something.

They did away with the option to bypass the slider screen lock in the update.

The Droid 2 root method works on the X. I used the one click method over on xda and it worked perfectly.

Hard Reset usually resolved issue, out of curiosity have you made sure to disable the backup my device option under Settings/Privacy before doing reset? This causes issues with backing up data from a device that already have setting issues, it restores them after reset. Disable this and hard reset again and on boot give it about 10 minutes (Maybe less will work but this is what I have learned that worked for me everytime) to complete what is going on in background and if M doesn't go away then pull battery and place back in after 30 secs and boot issue is usually resolved.

Thanks wildman, I'll give this a try.

And yeah, xliderider, I tried the one click method too. But it still didn't work.
I call myself computer savvy but for some reason I can't get through this one, haha.

Slide lock

So I have an issue that is close. I updated to 2.2 the other day and now the slide lock is gone. I actually like the lock. I prefer it over creating a pattern or password. Is there any way to get it back?

There's a app to disable the slide lock

Might you have the name of the App you're referring to?
I'd really love to get it.
I constantly press the power button on my phone when I'm done using it to spare any battery life I can.
So whenever I press it on, I always have to slide the bar, it's getting rather annoying.

No Lock is the other program others are using for this. It's pretty good but not perfect.

Thanks! I'll look for them.

Another question: Anyone know how to get rid of ALL vibrations?
Like the half a second vibration you get when you unlock the screen and such.
I turned off Haptic Feedback but it still does it.

I tried MyLock and unfortunately it didn't work for what I need (which is to disable the slide lock but keep the pattern security screen). If you want to disable both, then yes, MyLock or similar will get the job done.

went to Verizon, but they couldn't help me. They were just quick to do a factory reset.

Story of my life! That's all they know how to do- they're pretty worthless. Either they reset it or give you a piece of crap refurbished phone. Unless they've given you four refurbs in a row. THEN they'll give you something new.
