First thing first... background info,

I've had a fascinate for a good month now. I'm informed in the steps it takes to root ( one click method and the manual "adb" (command prompt) method) the phone and have performed both of them with success. Then I had a "problem" with the phone and had to get a replacement.

Present time

I brought the phone home, formatted the sd card on my computer to fat32, put it back into my phone (all before plugging the phone into the computer first, idk if that is important just saying it anyway). Then once I plugged the phone into my computer, which runs win7 64-bit, and try the manual adb root I get # right after moving rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin to the phone when I should be getting $.

I didn't know where to go from there so I factory reset my phone then tried the one click root method. It moves all the rootfiles over just fine and restarts it like usual. Once I get to the home screen and unlock it and wait for the one click root to continue I sometimes get a com.google.process.gapps has stopped working unexpectedly and the option to force close and the phone doesn't perform the second restart like it should when one click root states that it should be restarting.

And sometimes the phone restarts after the rootfiles are transferred like normal and when I unlock and get to the home screen one click root states that the phone will now restart (for the second time) and the phone never does. I just hangs unresponsively at the home screen.

Any help is appreciated, and sorry for the noob questions

Oh and secondly, if I have a back up for ClockworkMod Recorvery from my old rooted fascinate then could I restore that back up on my new fascinate once/if I get it rooted? and will all be fine?

------------------

Also I had Advanced Task Manager installed while trying both root methods... I was reading other threads and thought this info would help. Now I will try the one click root with ATM uninstalled and get back to you guys with a result....

Didn't work. Rootfiles were transferred fine and the phone restarted. Once unlocked and at the home screen one click root established permanent root and deleted temporary root then went to restart the phone again but the phone just wouldn't restart... I have no clue what could be happening...
