Problem syncing Facebook contacts

I've spent some time now trying to get all the Facebook contacts into the phone to no avail. Everything else that's FB related seems to work - feeds (activities under contacts), the widget, etc. but things like pictures and info won't sync up with the contacts. When I go to "Get Friends," I push the Facebook option and nothing happens.

I keep getting this error while syncing: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. it will be back shortly." Something tells me that if I don't fix something, shortly eventually becomes forever.

Does anyone else have this issue, maybe even with gmail contacts? Can anyone shed light on this?

Thanks,

Robert

Ok, so I was able to solve it (at least in my case). In the process, I tried a couple other things that DIDN'T work, such as deleting and re-uploading all the contacts, deleting and adding my facebook account again, etc.

What did work was pulling the battery and SIM card out for a few seconds and putting them back in. I let the battery die (calibrating it still) before I took it out, and when I started the phone back up, it worked. So, it may have just needed a simple reboot.

In any case, it's working now and they're all synced. Let me know if that helps.

mine just started working as i read this to see what the issue might be solved by, and i didnt do anything So it might just be a facebook issue that is over with for now. knock on wood

well fun while that lasted

Its back to not doing that. So oh well. But at least i linked them first and so now it does update their status messages and stuff though.

I was never able to get any contacts onto my Captivate until the following...

1. Remove the "official" Facebook app.
2. Remove the Facebook contact accounts.
3. Make sure there are no Facebook accounts left.
4. Add a new Facebook contact account and allow it to sync.
5. Once your contacts are there you can then add the Facebook application back.

I still have periodic sync issues, but that's the only way I could get my contacts to ever sync down to my phone for the first time.

Regards.
