Problem when inserting external earphones and microphone

Hi guys,

I've got this phone LG G7 quite recently, and got this problem right away.

When I plug in my earphones with microphone included I'd say that 80% of the time, people can't hear my voice. They do hear a high-pitch sound, going over my voice. This happens on call, while recording audio, on what's app...

So my guess is that's a jack-connection issue. I don't have another pair of earphones or external mic to try with at that time. But I was wondering if this was a common trouble? Should I look into getting other earbuds or look into fixing the phone?

Thank you

Welcome to Android Central! What brand and model earphones do you have? Are they specifically "Made for iPhone"? If so, those may not be entirely compatible, since iPhones use a slightly different headphone jack configuration.

Hi There,

It is an independant brand - Symphonized. They were working with my previous phone - Samsung A5, until I couldn't use them on my phone anymore. So it really makes me think the problem is with the phone's jack connector.

The A5 jack went bad, then the G7 went bad? The thing common to both of them is the earphone/mic, so I'd bet on that being the problem.

Good point actually. But regarding the A5, It had water damage.

But it is to consider indeed.

First, make sure the headphone jack is clear of any debris by blowing it out with a can of compressed air, and rooting around with a toothpick. When you're sure it's clean, plug the earphones in again and make sure they're pushed in as far as they can go, since a slight discrepancy in the location of the contacts on the plug can result in problems.

I've done all this, but the problem still occur. I've enquired with owners of same earphone if they've experienced this. But I was curious about the owners of LG G7.
