Hi friends

I wonder if I might ask some advice.

I have a Nexus 6p, about 5 or 6 weeks old, not rooted, pretty much stock set up.

Today I noticed a problem that has not shown up before. When I make an outbound call, my screen seems to switch off, and goes completely blank. I cannot access anything at all, no touch functions at all. I've tried it with a few contacts, and I always seem to need to try to switch it off with the power button.

When I receive a call, I can see the caller ID, but as soon as I accept the call, again my screen goes blank, with no functionality at all. However, when the call ends, after about 20 seconds or so, the screen re activates.

So, its only on active calls, incoming and outgoing, and I have no touch functions at all.

Anyone else had this issue at all, or any thoughts on cause and perhaps cure?

Thank you in advance.

re:

Are you using a screen protector of any sort? If yes, it is probably covering the proximity sensor which is difficult to see but located just below the right edge of the phone's earpiece.

re:

It's the stupid screen protector. It doesn't have the correct cutout. You really don't even need it, unless you plan on reselling the phone.

ha ha ha, damn I feel daft !!

I removed the cover, and hey presto....works just fine.

Thank you so much guys, I had no idea that would be the cause.

Cheers.

A bunch were made prematurely, and the correct cutouts weren't there. So it led to a bunch of people thinking their phones are broken when calling. That's weird though you said yours was GG, I would have thought they would get it right.

You might be able to get a free (updated) replacement. Find the manufacturer's website and inquire about it.
