problem with open wifi

All day yesterday my evo was connected to the open wifi at work with no issues. But when i came in this morning, when its trys to connect it doesnt get past obtaining ip address... Could my phones ip have been blocked or something? A co workers iphone connects fine but another co workers droid wont connect either. Big problem considering i surf the web all day and the building doesnt let much in as far as 3g signal. Please help!

i noticed the same issue with mine over the last couple of weeks with my home network. it is constantly "obtaining ip address", and trying to connect to every other network but mine. i have erased the entry and completely re-entered it. i have powercycled the home wifi, then the phone reconnects until i leave the area. it seems to have problems re-establishing link with the wifi.

i haven't done a lot of research to see what i can find, but it sounds like we're experiencing the same problem.

This was happening to me at the gym and it was driving me crazy. Turns out all we needed to do was unplug the wireless router, wait a minute or so and plug it back in. As soon as we did that it worked perfectly. Since then I have probably had to have it unplugged at least once a week. Hope this helps!

this is the same situation i have at home, but it's not a permanent solution, nor is it convenient. i've had my evo for over a year, and this is a newly developed situation.
