Problem with SD card maybe?

So i am setting up my wifes moment that we just got (i have android experience with a MyTouch 3G and now my Evo)...

I copied pics from a backup to her SD card after i mounted it. I unmounted it and went in to the gallery app to make sure we were all good and it said there was nothing (i put the pics in the DCIM folder).

I mounted the drive again, and everything was moved into the lost.dir. SO, i copied them from the PC to the DCIM folder again... when i unmounted and opened gallery, i got the same thing.. mounted again... and everything was moved to the lost.dir

I am at a loss here... NO idea what to do... any help would be GREATLY appreicated!!

take a picture with your phone and see where it stores it....and use that location

or just make a folder called pictures on the sd card and put them in there
