Problem with texting

I love my s3. Best phone I have ever had, however I am having a problem when I respond to a text and my response is lengthy. The other day I was writing a long response and I tried to scroll back and read over the text I was responding to. I found that not only could I not read the text but I could not scroll back and read any of her previous texts as my text now occupied the whole screen. I pressed the back button to no avail.

Anyone have this issue when writing a lengthy return text?

SMS was designed to support 160 characters or less. Use email.

...or try a 3rd party SMS app. Honestly, my guess is that the stock app wasn't built expecting people to write novels on it...it has basic functionality, type, send, done.

Thanks for the response. I actually figured out what I was doing wrong. If you just slide your finger horizontally it will go to each previous text using the whole screen. Pretty cool!
