Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post in, sorry if it's not.
I have a Toshiba Regza T-01C running 2.1-update1. I *think* these phones are only available in Japan.
I'm a musician so was pretty excited about the idea of using my phone as a guitar tuner and as a type of audio 'notepad' using sound recording apps.
The problem is that the phone seems to increase the pitch of the sound going into it's mic.
I had the gStrings guitar tuner app: If I tuned my guitar using a normal tuner (or against reference pitches on the internet) then compare it to the phone app, it tells me the sound is too sharp (high).
If I tune to what it says than compare back to a real tuner, the strings are too flat (low pitched).
After much googling i couldn't find anyone else with the same problem.
Today I downloaded Hi-Q MP3 recorder (lite) and Tape Machine (lite): after recording a short clip the play back is over one semitone higher than what I originally played. This is the same across both apps.
I also find that if I record a metronome, the play back is quite a bit faster. This is the same across all available bit-rate settings in the app.
So it would appear that perhaps the mic might be using a lower sample rate than the play back? How could that affect the tuner that works in real time?
The results are the same if I transfer the files to my computer for playback.
Curiously, the voice recorder in the 'Starmemo' app that came pre-installed plays back at the correct speed and pitch. Though the sound quality is awful.
Any ideas on what might be causing this and how I could fix it?
Cheers.
