problem with uploading photos to PC from HTC phone.

hi, i have 238 photos on my phone right now and i want to upload then to my PC and erase them from my phone, but for some reason when i go to upload them it only uploads a small 240p version of the photo, and even though i pressed "erase after importing" the photos are still on my phone and i can't download anything to upload anything on my phone because the photos are taking up all the space. could someone give me a solution asap. thanks =)
