I am new to this rooting stuff and I wanted to learn how to root a phone. I tried to install a custom rom, but it didn't work. Now, the lock screen won't work, the home button doesn't exit from apps and the Google Play store comes with a serer error. I tried resetting the phone, but that didn't work. Every time I power off my phone and turn it back on, I get an error saying google services crashed or something and I have to force close it. When I press the power button, all the options are taken out (Airplane mode), now I can only power it off. I can't open the task manager by holing down the power button either. The phone is still functioning and I can still use it. Please help.

Welcome to the forums.
Best thing to do is go to Samsung updates .com and find your stock ROM. Compare model numbers and make sure they match exactly. Download it to your PC (it will take a while. Average an hour) and place on your desktop (makes it easier to find for later steps).
Here you have two choices. You can copy the file to an Sd card and install through recovery (Power off, and reboot by holding volume up and power, release when you see Samsung) Scroll down to install update from sd card, then choose external, then click reboot device.
Or, you can download a program called ODIN, and open that, pull the md5 file from the .com download and flash that way. To do so you power off, hold volume down and power. You will see a warning, and volume up to continue. In ODIN click the PDA box, and navigate to the .com file you downloaded and click on the md5 file. Click start to begin. NOTE: with this method, make sure your device is charged to about 75%. Sometimes flashing this way takes a lot of juice, and you don't want your battery dying in the middle of the process.
