I have had my S5 for about a year. Until today it worked fine in its Otterbox case. But now the screen often won't respond when I press on, say, a given key on the keyboard when the phone is in the case. The S5 seems to work fine outside the case. Does the plastic on the case (that covers the screen) lose something over time?

You must have the Defender series - the VERY hard plastic one that snaps around it with the plastic screen cover?

It's entirely possible that something that whatever material it is made of may have gotten worn out or something, but I've never heard of it.

Personally, I would open a ticket with OtterBox and tell them about it. They'll replace it for you "free" - just pay something like $3 for processing and get a brand new one. Even if it's over a year old, they'll replace it. They're great like that.

PLAN B:

Go to... Settings > Display > Increase touch sensitivity... see if that helps.
