I purchased a nook color a few weeks ago and was so excited to turn it into a tablet. Well a guy I work with said he felt sure he could do the Rooting for me. I purchased the mini card with the reader and he took it home, brought it back he thought ready to go. Well I am having a problem with the apps. I cannot download alot of apps. I have tried to download apps from Amazon but I cannot access in my nook under settings where to allow apps that are from places other than the apps store to download. Lots of times I will go online on the nook to certain places and it will they there is an Andriod app for this, click to download and then it says your device is not compatable. Any ideas? Should I restore the nook back to the original and then reroot it?

Since I have no idea how this person rooted it I can't say what you need to do. Amazon requires it's own app to gain access to their app market. Do you have access to the Android Market? The "your device is not compatible" message depends on where you are receiving it. You need to tell us exactly what was done to your Nook.
