I got my hero yesterday and so far I see problems with the camera and my battery life. The camera takes blurry pictures unless you or the object you are shooting stays still for 5 seconds then it takes the picture. It's hard when you're shooting moving objects such as kids. And this morning after I unplugged my phone, 30 min after, my battery was down 1/4 of the way :( hope these things get fixed. I really like the phone overall.

I just got mine yesterday at Best Buy. I am experiencing the same problems with the camera. The video camera is very blurry with any movement, which makes taking video a waste of time. I am very surprised by this, considering my 3 year old motorola rizr had better video recording quality! This also looks nothing like the video shown here:

YouTube - Sprint HTC Hero Video Test

and here:

YouTube - HTC Hero for Sprint - part 3

Do we have defective phones? I am waiting until the phones are officially released on the 11th to go test out the models at the sprint store and see if they are having the same problems. I might be looking at a return!

Very upset about this please post if you have similar problems concerning the video camera.

One thing to help with battery life is task manager 1.10 in the marketplace. I've noticed a lot of apps don't close and will run in the background. Also things like how often your push email reconciles and if you have the weather app update automatically.

I have done further testing and I have noticed that the blurry issue goes away completely in very well lighted areas. I am not sure why this corrects the problem but try going outdoors and use the video camera to record. Does it change for you?

It's dark outside here right now I'm gonna have to try tomorrow. Still doesn't work in a well lit room though. I'm not receiving txt messages either but there's another thread for that :)

i feel the battery is terrible. charged last night after i got it yesterday afternoon. the battery is down to about 50 percent and i have barely used the phone. i hope this doesnt turn out like the HTC Mogul I had and got rid of after a few months and have to go back to blackberry and get the tour.

I don't use the camera all that often, but a lot of people I know say this was a problem with the HTC Diamond also, so I wasn't expecting much from the camera.

The battery is also pretty much expected. This is a typical smartphone battery life, save for the Blackberry. I can still easily get through a day.

Reduce the frequency at which your non-Gmail accounts are checked, and as stated earlier use a task killer to ensure things aren't running in the background. So far I like "Advanced Task Killer."

thinkin about sellin

I'm thinkin about sellin it, cuz my Touch Pro 2 cam was better nor can I upload a good quality video to youtube, it was suppose to be just like the iphone capabilities to upload directly to youtube/facebook/twitter. this can't do that or at least I haven't found an app to help me do so yet... this is a disappointment:(

I did notice the blurry camera in a dark room but I've gotta say, it does pics/video in dark room pretty good or atleast it does a good job at brightening up a dark area. Outside pics are 5.0mp goodness! I also uploaded some video and you CAN do it from the phone. Just take the video and do the share option and one of them is youtube. The youtube app will log into your youtube account after u put in your login/password and you should be good after that. Another note on the battery, for me, it was pretty bad and even getting HOT at heavy use however, after 2 days of use now the hot battery issue is getting better (battery burn in I guess) and the battery life is better too... You gotta factor in the WOW affect and the more than average use on the first few days! :)

Thats correct, i have noticed that the phone was getting hot, but now the battery life is doing great and makes it through the day of average use and i still have about 30% battery left at night when i go to bed and charge it. The camera isnt the best ive ever seen, but hey, thats why i own a real 10mp camera and a sony handy cam....keep in mind that it is still a cell phone, and it definetly does really well with all the apps and calls and such. My rating of the phone = 9/10

Either. It get's extremely slow even if it's a single small app, or bunch of big ones. The navigation buttons aren't responsive during the updating either.
