Problems with Galaxy Tab 2 charger.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, non-rooted. I've got the original charger provided by Samsung. The problem is, about an year ago, the charger started acting funny. It shows a cross on the 'charging' icon, which probably means that it thinks that it's connected to a PC. And it doesn't charge. I have to disconnect and reconnect it a few times to make sure it starts charging. Yesterday, the battery accidentally drained out completely. It switched off. When I connect the charger, it starts charging, but goes black immediately after. And then it automatically starts it again. It charges for a second and then restarts the charging process. I can't even switch it on. So, I'm technically stuck with a charging bootloop (chargeloop?). Do I have to change the cable, or the whole charger, or can it be fixed? If I need to get a new one, where can I get it? Any help appreciated :)

Thanks.

EDIT: And yeah, the pin for the charger is the wide one. I don't remember, but it's probably called a 30-pin.

Moved from the Batteries forum to the Tab 2 forum.

The first thing I'd try is a different charging cable, and plug it into a wall outlet for 24 hours undisturbed before trying to power on again.

If the battery is totally dead, you may have to have it removed and precharged (IOW, charged in an external charger).
