Problems with my Tab2

My tablet has started to shut itself down intermittently even though the battery is fully charged. The only way I can get it to reboot is to plug in the charger and when it finally comes on it has reverted the time and date 00:00 and 1/1/2000, anyone else had this problem and any suggestions on what to do please. I am a bit reluctant to do a factory reset in case I lose all the progress on my downloaded apps.

I don't know what happened but it sounds like you may need to do a factory reset.
