Has anyone noticed that the Galaxy Note 3 appears to have consistently lower signal strength then a galaxy note 2 .

I've tested both side by side driving down the road and it is apparent to the point that I will drop calls on the Note 3 in areas that never dropped calls on the Galaxy Note 2

Why the heck are you staring at 2 phones while driving down the street? This makes me upset

He's assuming it will drop a call,it could have a more accurate signal reading than the Note 2.

I really hope my Verizon note 3 doesn't have these reception problems I'm leaving Motorola back to Samsung after leaving Samsung 2 years ago for this exact problem. I would have figured they'd have figure it out by now.

Yes, i've noticed it also. For me, in the same location on the same HSPA+ network the Note 3 will show a slightly lower dBm, usually by 3 to 5 decibels, but the reception with the Note 3 seems to be much more erratic for some reason, often dropping into the teens before bouncing back. If I don't keep it locked to WCDMA it will cycle between LTE (very weak where I live), 4G, and Edge. Hopefully it's a software issue, but i'm not betting on it.

My Sprint GN3 has had actually better signal strength than my GN2. Signal is 1 to 2 bars better in my use. I turned off my Airave to test things out with great results.

This would be unfortunate. Too bad you can't pull out the pen half/way for a make shift antenna ;)

So far my note 3 has much stronger signals then my note 2

THE BEAST,,NOTE 3. SIZE IS EVERYTHING!!!

I think for these signal threads dbm should be required. Just because one might have less bars doesn't mean anything really... It could just be how they measure it changed.

Example? iPhones.. AT&T had updated them back in the day to change how they displayed signal strength since they always showed full... Even when that wasn't the case.

i agree and also what carrier .

This is at least -10 db better than my Note 2. I've tested both several times and I consistently get the same numbers. I'm happy with it.

If this is true the Note 3 will be terrible for use in my area. My phone now drops calls and tries to get a 4g signal when it is one bar at best and 3g is 4. Looks like going back to the Blackberry 9900 is getting to look better everyday

I have sprint and this is driving me crazy! My note 3 is getting -108dBm when my GS4 got -85. Im on sprint and my co-workers on sprint with the note 2, GS3 and GS4 all have signals within -2dBm from each other and all have 4 or 5 bars when my note 3 has 2. I went to the sprint store and put mine right next to the GS3 and GS4 on display and they were at -84dBm on 4g LTE and my note 3 wouldnt even pick up 4g. I've run tons of speed tests and its always a couple MBs sloower then the note 2 and GS4.
Is this something that can be fixed with a firmware update or is it a bad RF reception? should i hold out and hope it gets better or take it back?

Mine is just the opposite, the Note 3 is -10 better than my Note 2 side by side. I don't know why some are worse than others.
