Problems with password

First my Nexus wouldn't connect to the internet. Then it allowed me to get on to my emails only (no other connection) by asking for my virgin email password - a black box comes on the screen asking for a password. I have never put in a password to access the internet. Now it is connecting to internet but only via this email connection. What is going on here and how can I get rid of having to put in pasword everytime? Don't know if this is applicable when I'm somewhere else
