ProClip Car Mount is Awesome!!!

I ordered the 2-part ProClip car mount system for my Droid and Nissan Pathfinder. I am very happy with it. It was very easy to install. It's very sturdy and doesn't shake or vibrate. The Droid slides in and out very easily, but is still secure. It spins from portrait to landscape very easily. Good range of motion on the swivel. Screen can be slid to expose the keyboard without a problem.

It does not include a magnet for "car mode", which is fine with me, but may not be for some people.

It is a little on the expensive side as the car mount is $35 and the Droid mount is $30. But having a secure, custom mount that is not stuck to the windshield is great.

They have recently added a Droid mount that is inclusive of a charging feature and hard wired installation. That one is $70, without the car-specific half of the mount. I haven't found it necessary to charge my Droid everytime I am in the car, and when I need to, it's not a big deal to use my normal car charger.

I'd be happy to answer any questions.

So this car mount is able to charge and do car mode? all while not being suction cupped to the windshield? But no car mode

It is just a holder. No carmode magnet, no charger (afaik, you need your own cig light charger). They are expensive but very sturdy and if you ever got a new car or different phone, you'd need to replace one piece or the other. Each car has a different mount and each device a different adapter.

There was no charger until last week:

Personally, I don't think it's worth the money. I'll try to take some pics, but it looks pretty close to what's on the website. They have photos of all the specific car mounts also.

This is the one I have:

There is an app to send the phone to car mode. I think its called Car Dock. Its free on the market.

Or just glue a small strong magnet onto the back of the dock itself.

Too bad it won't hold a Droid with a hard case on. This is a problem with most attach devices.
I do like the Dash mount system, I should be able to get my device to mount to the Dash mount.

this is awesome! I've been looking for something like this for a while now - saw one that was similar but i didn't like the fit and finish as well. nice find - thanks for sharing!! now i can watch youtube while i drive easier! ^_^

Yeah for the price of the two ProClip pieces I'd need to charge it, I could get the case, car charger, and home charger from Seidio.

Of course it doesn't mount as securely, its just a suction cup, but I'd actually prefer that because then I can take it from car to car without buying ANOTHER ProClip piece.

They thought of that too, but you will have to get a car-specific mount for each car. So the money thing again.

That's what I meant. With the seidio or even verizon car mounts I can take it from my truck to my car to my parents vehicles to a rental with no issues.

I'm really thinking of going the Seidio route. To get the case, home, and car docks it will be about $100 but it also gives me added phone protection and charges in the car without hooking up the charger every time Hmmmm

Updated with pics in the first post... Sorry there are no pics with the Droid mounted, as I was using it to take the pics. I will try to get a shot with my camera. Are there specific details anyone is looking for?

Looks fine but their price seems high.

I agree with the price thing. I didn't want to attach anything permanent to my dash and I had problems with suction cup mounts for other phones. With a lot of temperature fluctuation it would fall off without warning, sending my phone crashing to the floor.

So, though it was expensive, this solution was worth it to me.

I hear you. When my dash mount unglues and tosses my phone to the floor, I will move on to the windshield mount. When that tosses my phone to the floor, I will have to buy a new car :)
